Celebrate!

Jesus said, “When you’re celebrating a wedding, you don’t skimp on the cake and wine. You feast. Later you may need to pull in your belt, but not now. As long as the bride and groom are with you, you have a good time..." ~ Mark 2:19 (MSG)
SUMMARY SENTENCE Being with Jesus is cause enough for celebration.
PRAYER Thank you, God, for breaking into our dark and frustrating world. I confess that I wallow in the negativity. Yes, I know the negative things are real but I tend to get stuck there. I let them suck the joy out of my life. Please refresh my perspective on what's really happening in me and around me. I want to be able to celebrate without hesitation the intervention and agenda of Christ Jesus. Amen.

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
