God rescues
Oh, that you would burst from the heavens and come down! ~ Isaiah 64:1 (NLT)
Rescue us from the evil one. ~ Matthew 6:13
SUMMARY SENTENCE
God rescues.
PRAYER
God, thank you for rescuing your people. You've done it over and over again throughout the ages. You rescued Noah from the flood. You rescued the Hebrew people from slavery. And you sent Jesus from heaven to come down and rescue us from the powers of sin and death. I admit that I'm still in need of daily rescuing because I lean away from your agenda and into accomplishing the things which feel most important to me. Rescue me from myself. Transform my life so that it is in sync with your life. I'm going to live as someone who has been rescued from certain death. Amen.
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
