HEARING AND SEEING

The 19th Sunday after Pentecost

PROVERBS 20:12 (MSG)
Ears that hear and eyes that see—
     we get our basic equipment from GOD! 

MATTHEW 13:16 (MSG)
You have God-blessed eyes—eyes that see!
And God-blessed ears—ears that hear! 

SUMMARY SENTENCE
Live into the blessings that go with seeing and hearing.

PRAYER
Jesus, your offer of seeing eyes, and hearing ears move me to ask you for them. Too often, I live below the spiritual privileges you provide for me -- forgive me. Open me up again to see, to hear, and to experience your promises for me. Grant opportunities today to speak these promises to others you send to me. Amen. The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2011 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.
