PAY ATTENTION

Listen closely, and take to heart every word I say to you. ~ Ezekiel 3:10 (CEB)

This is why it’s necessary for us to pay more attention to what we have heard, or else we may drift away from it. ~ Hebrews 2:1 (CEB)

SUMMARY SENTENCE
To stay on course in life it is essential that we pay attention to what God is saying.

PRAYER
Again, God, I'm grateful for your direction. I do recognize that I often let your words go in one ear and out the other. My retention level is low. But by your grace, I do want to grow more attentive. Hold my hand -- give me extra prompts -- whatever it takes to keep my attention focused on you and your word is what I want. I'm going to listen. Amen.

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.
