PROVERBS 15:16 (ABP)
It’s better to be a person of limited means while honoring GOD than to be an outrageously rich person with a life full of trouble.
MARK 8:36 (MSG)
What good would it do to get everything you want and lose you, the real you?
SUMMARY SENTENCE
Don't sell your soul to acquire stuff that only brings trouble.
PRAYER
Thank you, God, for gifting me with a rich life. Forgive me for confusing stuff with that richness. Throttle my desire for bigger, better, and more so that I can focus on using what you've given to me to honor you. I'm going to be content. Amen.
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
