GOD IS GRACIOUS AND SO...

ISAIAH 48:9 (CEV)
I, the Lord, am true to myself;
I will be praised
for not punishing
and destroying you.

2 TIMOTHY 1:9 (CEB)
God is the one who saved and called us with a holy calling. This wasn’t based on what we have done, but it was based on his own purpose and grace that he gave us in Christ Jesus before time began.

SUMMARY SENTENCE
Because God is gracious he is not only merciful to us but he also calls us to participate in his plan for the world.

PRAYER
Thank you, God, for graciously saving us from all that is contrary to life. Forgive me for trying to define life on my own terms -- for coming up with my own purpose and calling. Refocus my life so that it is grace-defined and Jesus-centered. I'm going to live out YOUR plan. Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2011 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
