FAITHFUL PROMISE-KEEPER

1 KINGS 8:24 (MSG)
You kept your word to David my father, your personal word. You did exactly what you promised—every detail. The proof is before us today!

Keep it up, GOD, O God of Israel! Continue to keep the promises you made to David my father

LUKE 1:68-69 (MSG)
Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel;
     he came and set his people free.
He set the power of salvation in the center of our lives,
     and in the very house of David his servant,
Just as he promised long ago...

SUMMARY SENTENCE
The arrival of Jesus shows us that God is a faithful promise-keeper.

PRAYER
Faithful God, we live in a world where promises are made to be broken but you are a person of your word. Forgive me for the times when I doubt that things can work out. Lead me back to Jesus who embodies your love and faithfulness. I'm going to live with your promised salvation at the center of my life. Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
