RESCUED BY THE GREAT GOD

The Third Sunday in Advent

JEREMIAH 10:6 (MSG)
All this is nothing compared to you, O GOD.
You’re wondrously great, famously great.

1 JOHN 4:14 (ABP)
We've seen it and given public testimony regarding the fact that the Father sent the Son to be the world’s savior.

SUMMARY SENTENCE
God is great and without peer -- yet he sent his Son into the world rescue it.

PRAYER
Indeed, God, you are worthy of your fame. You sent your one and only Son into the world to rescue us from the constraints of evil and death. I'm among those set free! Yet, even though you are awesome and I'm free, I don't always live out my freedom. Help me to live consistent with my God-given salvation! And help me to give testimony to this good news. I'm going to live as a freed person. Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
