HOPE IN GOD
PSALM 27:9 (MSG)
You’ve always been right there for me;
don’t turn your back on me now.
Don’t throw me out, don’t abandon me;
you’ve always kept the door open.
LUKE 23:42-43 (MSG)
Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you enter your kingdom.”
He said, “Don’t worry, I will. Today you will join me in paradise.”
SUMMARY SENTENCE
God will not turn his back on those who turn to him.
PRAYER
Gracious God, even though we've turned from you, you remain faithful to us. Help me to turn my life completely over to you. Regardless of what comes my way I'm not going to worry but I'm going to put my hope in you and your grace -- that which was poured out on us through Christ Jesus. Amen.
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
