LIVE GRATEFULLY

DEUTERONOMY 8:12, 14 (CEB)
When you eat, get full, build nice houses, and settle down... don’t become arrogant, forgetting the LORD your God.

1 THESSALONIANS 5:18 (CEB)
Give thanks in every situation because this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

SUMMARY SENTENCE
Replace complacency with thankfulness.

PRAYER
Generous God, I'm grateful for all that you have provided for me. I know that I'm not very good at expressing my gratitude. I get so comfortable with all that I have that I lose track. Sometimes I become occupied with trying to squeeze more out of my life. Rekindle the gratitude so that it is an ongoing part of my life -- the life that grows out of my connection with Christ. I'm going to live gratefully. Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
