LIGHT

ZECHARIAH 14:7 (MSG)
What a Day that will be! No more cold nights—in fact, no more nights! The Day is coming—the timing is GOD’s—when it will be continuous day. Every evening will be a fresh morning.

1 JOHN 1:5 (MSG)
This, in essence, is the message we heard from Christ and are passing on to you: God is light, pure light; there’s not a trace of darkness in him.

SUMMARY SENTENCE
Let God's light define your day.

PRAYER
Lord of light, you sent Christ into the world to reveal what light looks like and what it does. I confess that even though I'm drawn to his light I still worry about all the darkness in the world. There is a lot of pain and there are lots of evil people. Help me to step back, take a deep breath, and assess the situation so that I can once again see how light conquers death. Resurrection gets the final word in a world defined by light. Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
