TRUSTING RELATIONSHIP

PSALM 91:1-2 (CEB)
Living in the Most High’s shelter,
camping in the Almighty’s shade,
I say to the Lord, “You are my refuge, my stronghold!
You are my God—the one I trust!”

1 JOHN 5:14 (CEB)
This is the confidence that we have in our relationship with God: If we ask for anything in agreement with his will, he listens to us.

SUMMARY SENTENCE
We can have a strong trusting relationship with God.

PRAYER
God, you are the one in whom I trust when trouble arises -- except when I don't. Sometimes I end up with a foggy brain and forget about the ways that you have taken care of me and your people throughout the ages. Help me to think clearly when I'm facing challenges so that my trust in you increases in proportion to the difficulties I face. I'm going to camp in the safety and coolness of your shade. Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2011 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
