GOD'S AID

PSALM 3:2-3 (CEB)
So many are talking about me:
     "Even God won’t help him."
But you, Lord, are my shield!
     You are my glory!
     You are the one who restores me.

LUKE 1:49 (NTE)
The Powerful One, whose name is Holy,
has done great things for me, for me.

SUMMARY SENTENCE
There is no limit to God's aid when we are on his side.

PRAYER
God, when everyone is eager to blow me off you stick with me. Forgive me for getting caught up in the drama of the world and forgetting to stay close to you and your protective shield. Keep reminding me of how you have carried me through the turmoils of the past so that I can trust you in the present and the future. Amen.

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
