THE CHRIST-LIFE

ISAIAH 5:20 (MSG)
Doom to you who call evil good
     and good evil,
Who put darkness in place of light
     and light in place of darkness,

1 PETER 2:21-22 (MSG)
This is the kind of life you’ve been invited into, the kind of life Christ lived. He suffered everything that came his way so you would know that it could be done, and also know how to do it, step-by-step.
     He never did one thing wrong,
     Not once said anything amiss.

SUMMARY SENTENCE
We're called to live the Christ-life.

PRAYER
Lord Jesus Christ, when I think of your courage to speak and perform truth, I bow before you while confessing my sinfulness. You know how I fear constantly for my own safety and reputation. Teach me to trust you more and more, that I may become more and more like you -- faithful, loving, and wise. Amen. (Daily Texts, Ground Up Grace edition)

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
