STAY THE COURSE

JOSHUA 24:16 (NLT)
The people replied, "We would never abandon the LORD and serve other gods."

JUDE 1:20-21 (MSG)
But you, dear friends, carefully build yourselves up in this most holy faith by praying in the Holy Spirit, staying right at the center of God’s love, keeping your arms open and outstretched, ready for the mercy of our Master, Jesus Christ. This is the unending life, the real life!

SUMMARY SENTENCE
Stay the course with God by allowing the Holy Spirit to direct the way you pray.

PRAYER
Blessed Holy Spirit, you keep us alive in Christ. Yet, we allow so many foreign voices to influence the ways we think and act. Purge such intruders from my life. I'm going to stay the course because you are alive, present, and active in me. Amen.

THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
