CANCELED

Epiphany

JEREMIAH 33:8 (ABP)
Even though they've wronged me and rebelled against me, I'm going to forgive them -- canceling out their guilt and reinstituting their status as clean people.

1 JOHN 2:2 (CEB)
Christ is God’s way of dealing with our sins, not only ours but the sins of the whole world.

SUMMARY SENTENCE
Christ Jesus has canceled our guilt.

PRAYER
Thank you, God, for canceling our guilt and resetting us so that we can live according to the ways of your coming kingdom. On this Epiphany day, help me to see how this good news is for all people -- for all who will follow your star and receive your gifts. Amen.

THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.
