PEACE THROUGH CHRIST

DEUTERONOMY 4:39 (MSG)
Know this well, then. Take it to heart right now: GOD is in Heaven above; GOD is on Earth below. He’s the only God there is.

COLOSSIANS 1:19-20 (NLT)
For God in all his fullness
     was pleased to live in Christ,
and through him God reconciled
     everything to himself.

SUMMARY SENTENCE
The one God makes peace with all creation through Christ.

PRAYER
Glory to you, the one true God who is in charge of the heavens, the earth, and everything in between. We managed to mess things up but in your grace, you intervened and sent Christ to re-establish a healthy relationship between yourself and us. I admit that I add to the chaos when I try to make Christianity more complicated. Help me to stay focused on what Christ has done and to share that good news with all who will listen. I'm going to be a spokesperson for your peace. Amen.

THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
