OPEN THE DOOR

The Sixth Sunday after Epiphany

MALACHI 3:2 (CEV)
On the day the Lord comes, he will be like a furnace that purifies silver or like strong soap in a washbasin. No one will be able to stand up to him.

REVELATION 3:20 (CEV)
Listen! I am standing and knocking at your door. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in and we will eat together.

SUMMARY SENTENCE
A meeting with the Lord can go either of two ways.

PRAYER
Glorious God, I want to honor you for who you are -- powerful, yet hospitable. Thank you for inviting yourself over to eat with me. I admit that I'm slow to get to the door sometimes and part of that is anxiety over what you'll think once you come in. Help me to trust that you intend the best for me and that you are going to respond to my open door with radical graciousness. I'm looking forward to supper. Amen.

THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.
