The angel shook Peter and got him up: “Hurry!” The handcuffs fell off his wrists. The angel said, “Get dressed. Put on your shoes.” Peter did it. Then, “Grab your coat and let’s get out of here.” Peter followed him, but didn’t believe it was really an angel—he thought he was dreaming.

PRAYER
God, I understand that your angels are busy helping move things along. I'm not sure that I've ever seen one of your heavenly angels. Maybe I have without realizing it. But I'm certain that at least some of the people I've encountered have been messengers from you. Thank you for sending them into my life to lead me to where I need to be at that moment. Forgive me for the pushback I exhibit when I feel like I'm not in total control. Help me to trust in your faithfulness -- your protection -- your responsiveness -- and your angels. I'm going to be on the lookout for them. Amen.

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.
