RECONCILATION

NEHEMIAH 13:2
Our God turned the curse into a blessing.

2 CORINTHIANS 5:19 (ABP)
Through Christ God has restored our relationship with him. He did this by refusing to hold our sins against us. This is the message of reconciliation that he has entrusted to us and which we represent.

SUMMARY SENTENCE
God reaches out to us -- even though we've messed up our relationship with him.

PRAYER
Awesome Father, you welcome us back -- even when we've pulled away. Considering how we've messed things up it's incredible that you want to have anything to do with us. Yet you've not only given us a new start through Christ, but you've also called us to share the message of reconciliation with the world. That's where I fall short again. My heart isn't into it in the way that yours is. Help me to change so that I can fully represent your good news message of reconciliation. Amen.

THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.
