THE POWER OF CHRIST

1 CHRONICLES 28:9 (ABP)
Serve God with all your heart and all your mind. And be aware that the Lord examines what's going on inside you. He can clearly see the motives behind all you do and say.

HEBREWS 13:20-21 (NLT)
Now may the God of peace...
produce in you,
through the power of Jesus Christ,
every good thing that is pleasing to him.
All glory to him forever and ever! Amen.

SUMMARY SENTENCE
Focus on harnessing the power of Christ in you to carry out his agenda for you.

PRAYER
God, you see all and understand all. You know me better than I know me. Forgive my over-confidence in my ability to make things good. I end up distorting good and getting off track in trying to pull it all off. I desperately need your perspective if I'm going to do anything right. But I know that I need to turn off the self-serving voices in my head -- the voices that drown out your voice. I'm going to count on you to do this because I'm incapable of doing it on my own. But I'll work with you on it. Amen.

THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
