JUSTICE

AMOS 5:15 (CEV)
Choose good instead of evil!
See that justice is done.
Maybe I, the LORD All-Powerful,
will be kind to what's left
of your people.

EPHESIANS 5:8-9 (CEB)
You were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord, so live your life as children of light. Light produces fruit that consists of every sort of goodness, justice, and truth.

SUMMARY SENTENCE
God's people, shaped by his light, are passionate about goodness, justice, and truth.

PRAYER
Generous God, thank you for making me a child of light. I regret that I often prefer darkness, siding with those who oppress rather than the oppressed. But you, Lord, shine light on your children's needs and inspire me to respond. Please shine today on all who need food, safety, or advocates. Help me respond with justice and joy. Amen. THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name; your Kingdom come; your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
