PUT YOUR FAITH IN CHRIST JESUS

PSALM 146:3 (NLT)
Don’t put your confidence in powerful people;
there is no help for you there.

REVELATION 1:5 (CEV)
May kindness and peace
   be yours from Jesus Christ,
   the faithful witness.
Jesus was the first
   to conquer death,
   and he is the ruler
   of all earthly kings.

SUMMARY SENTENCE
Put your faith in Christ Jesus, the faithful witness who is over all earthly rulers.

PRAYER
Praise you, O Lord, praise you! In you alone should I trust. However, I confess that I am prone to put my trust in the princes of this world who demand my allegiance. I am weak-kneed in this battle for loyalty. Forgive me. Restore me to a right relationship with you and no other god. Amen. (Daily Texts, Ground Up Grace edition)

THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name; your Kingdom come; your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
