SHARING GOOD NEWS

The 12th Sunday after Pentecost

PSALM 96:3 (ABP)
Broadcast the news of God's glory to the lost people of the world. Tell everyone everywhere about the amazing things he does.

COLOSSIANS 4:3 (NLT)
Pray for us, too, that God will give us many opportunities to speak about his mysterious plan concerning Christ.

SUMMARY SENTENCE
Look for opportunities to share the good news of Christ with those near and far.

PRAYER
Glorious God, thank you for intervening in the affairs of the world -- for starting history on a course of restoration, peace, and health. You've even included me in this new way of life. Yet, I'm shy when it comes to talking about it all. I worry that I'll misspeak or create more problems than I solve. Forgive me for not trusting your Holy Spirit to give me the right words at the right time. Open my eyes to the new opportunities around me. I want to share the glorious mystery of Christ with the entire world. Amen.

THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name, your Kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
