TRUST

JEREMIAH 14:22 (ABP)
You, O GOD, are the one whom we trust for the future.

HEBREWS 4:16 (ABP)
Without wavering let's stay close to God's throne -- the place from which his favor emanates. That way we'll have quick access to his mercy and grace when we need it to deal with what life is throwing at us.

SUMMARY SENTENCE
Stay close to God and trust him to get you to where you need to be.

PRAYER
God, you alone are the one that I can completely trust. You have proven that over and over. Yet, I continue to drift away from where I need to be. I'm so easily distracted that looking to you for help isn't always my first thought. Then I get worried about how things are going to turn out. Remind me of your presence and I will more quickly trust you for the future. Amen.

THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name, your Kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
