MESSENGERS

The 18th Sunday after Pentecost

DEUTERONOMY 18:18 (CEB)
I’ll raise up a prophet for them from among their fellow Israelites—one just like you. I’ll put my words in his mouth...

1 THESSALONIANS 2:4 (CEV)
God was pleased to trust us with his message. We didn't speak to please people, but to please God who knows our motives.

SUMMARY SENTENCE
God entrusts people with his message for people.

PRAYER
Jesus, you are the Living Word from God. As you did with the prophets of old, you have entrusted us with a message that points to you. I confess, though, that I worry more about what others think than what you want me to say. Redirect my attention so that I might become a faithful and reliable messenger of your good news. Amen.

THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name, your Kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.
