FACING OPPOSITION AND SUFFERING

ISAIAH 53:4 (MSG)
But the fact is, it was our pains he carried—
our disfigurements, all the things wrong with us.
We thought he brought it on himself,
that God was punishing him for his own failures. But...

HEBREWS 12:3 (MSG)
When you find yourselves flagging in your faith,
go over that story again, item by item,
that long litany of hostility he plowed through.
That will shoot adrenaline into your souls!

SUMMARY SENTENCE
When you face any kind of pushback let the suffering of Christ motivate you to press on in faithful living.

PRAYER
Faithful God, you've seen and endured it all. You've allowed yourself to experience affliction and rejection for our sake. We can't possibly grasp all that you've gone through but we flinch every time someone says a mean word to us. We allow the opposition to eat at us. Help us to find strength in an ongoing awareness of your faithful suffering. I'm going to let your faithfulness through Christ Jesus shape my faithfulness. Amen.

THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name, your Kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.
