FRUITFUL LIVING

PSALM 143:10 (ABP)
Teach me, my God, how to live in a way that pleases you. Take my hand and graciously walk me to a safe and level field.

GALATIANS 5:22-23 (NLT)
The Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

SUMMARY SENTENCE
When we allow the Holy Spirit to function in our lives he directs us into fruitfulness.

PRAYER
Gracious God, I long to live in holy communion with you, to live a life that is more than mere existence. Thank you for putting to death in me all that fights against your life-giving Spirit. May I follow your will today so that someone may be blessed and bear good fruit. Amen. (Daily Texts, Ground Up Grace edition)

THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name, your Kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
