LET THE SPIRIT

The 4th Sunday in Advent

EXODUS 4:11 (CEB)
Then the LORD said to him, "Who gives people the ability to speak?.. Isn’t it I, the LORD?"

1 CORINTHIANS 2:4 (CEV)
When I talked with you or preached, I didn't try to prove anything by sounding wise. I simply let God's Spirit show his power.

SUMMARY SENTENCE
Regardless of how eloquent we might or might not be our focus needs to be on letting the Holy Spirit communicate through us.

PRAYER
God, your message is powerful and life-changing. It is so tempting to try and wrap it in impressive eloquence. Help me to stand down and let you work through me -- whether I'm "on" or "off." Yes, I want to do my best but more so I want to relax and let the Spirit demonstrate his power -- even when I'm at my weakest points. Amen.

THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name, your Kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.
