LONGING

The Second Sunday in Christmastide

PSALM 42:2 (ABP)
I long for God -- to be present with the living God. I can't wait until I'm there with him for a face-to-face.

MATTHEW 7:8 (ABP/CEV)
This is no bait-and-switch con game. Everyone who asks will receive. Everyone who searches will find. And the door will be opened for everyone who knocks.

SUMMARY SENTENCE
Those who long for God will be satisfied.

PRAYER
God, we begin this year by acknowledging that all time is in your hands. You will provide everything that we need for 2023. Forgive us for doubting that there are viable solutions to all the issues we face. Help me to turn to you each time I need something -- and to trust that you will provide. Most of all I want this year to be about spending time with you and living each moment to further your agenda for me and the world. Amen.

THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name, your Kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.
