JOB 14:1-2 (MSG)
We’re all adrift in the same boat:
too few days, too many troubles.
We spring up like wildflowers in the desert and then wilt,
transient as the shadow of a cloud.
HEBREWS 13:13-14 (MSG)
So let’s go outside, where Jesus is, where the action is—not trying to be privileged insiders, but taking our share in the abuse of Jesus. This “insider world” is not our home. We have our eyes peeled for the City about to come.
SUMMARY SENTENCE
Get used to the idea that we are transient here.
PRAYER
Creator God, you are in the process of renewing creation -- making all things new. I confess that most of the time I'm not excited about change. It requires so much energy and it's so easy to live according to the established patterns -- even when they are spiritually unhealthy. Empower the change in me so that I can keep up with where you are going. I'm going to be a part of your new creation. Amen.
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name, your Kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.
