TRUSTING

ISAIAH 46:12-13 (CEV)
You people are stubborn
   and far from being safe,
   so listen to me.
I will soon come to save you.
I am not far away
   and will waste no time...

Trusting with the heart leads to righteousness, and confessing with the mouth leads to salvation.

SUMMARY SENTENCE
If you are serious about moving forward in your relationship with God, you must trust him, demonstrating your faith through words and actions.

DAILY FODDER
Do you think that God sees you as stubborn? Why or why not? Does it matter? 

PRAYER
Faithful Father, thank you for Jesus whom you brought near to all. He is never far away! He came as Emmanuel, so we could know he is with us. Forgive me when I run or hide. Grow my heart today to believe more than yesterday. May your word always be on my lips, ready to proclaim the gospel of grace. Amen. (Daily Texts, Ground Up Grace edition)

THE LORD’S PRAYER (ABP)
Our Father in Heaven,
     we hold your name in the highest regard.
Please come and establish your reign here on earth
     so that everything that happens here will align
     with what is happening in heaven.
Give us enough food for today.
Forgive us our wrongdoing,
     and we’ll forgive those who wronged us.
Shield us from the trials and temptations that come our way.
Lastly, we pray that you will protect us from all forms of evil. Amen.

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2011 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
