You pulled me from the brink of death,
my feet from the cliff-edge of doom.
Now I stroll at leisure with God
in the sunlit fields of life.
MARK 5:41-42 (MSG)
He clasped the girl’s hand and said, “Talitha koum,” which means, “Little girl, get up.” At that, she was up and walking around!
SUMMARY SENTENCE
Because God has saved us from the grip of death we are free to stroll with him.
DAILY FODDER
After I had a stroke in 2019, the doctor looking at the MRI image of my brain said, "Did you know that you have scar tissue from an earlier stroke, possibly years ago?" I was grateful that my 2019 stroke left little lasting damage but until that point, I wasn't thankful for the way God had protected me from an earlier silent stroke. It got me wondering, just how many times has my life been spared?
PRAYER
Merciful God, you've saved us all from the brink of death numerous times. We confess that we are unaware of all the when, what, and where you've done this. But we can remember the times when we were too close to death for comfort and it stirs us to consider that you're probably doing even more than we can take in. So we thank you and we want you to know that we enjoy strolling at leisure with you in the sunlit fields of life. Amen.
Our Father in Heaven,
we hold your name in the highest regard.
Please come and establish your reign here on earth
so that everything that happens here will align
with what is happening in heaven.
and we’ll forgive those who have wronged us.
Shield us from the trials and temptations that come our way.
Lastly, we pray that you will protect us from all forms of evil. Amen.
