PEACE AND PROSPERITY ARE COMING

JEREMIAH 33:9 (CEB)
Then this city will bring me great joy, praise, and renown before all nations on earth, when they hear of all the good I provide for them. They will be in total awe at all the good and prosperity I provide for them.

MATTHEW 21:9 (MSG)
Crowds went ahead and crowds followed, all of them calling out, “Hosanna to David’s son!” “Blessed is he who comes in God’s name!” “Hosanna in highest heaven!”

SUMMARY SENTENCE
Peace and prosperity are coming, complements of Jesus.

DAILY FODDER
How is God's peace and prosperity starting to pop up in your life?

PRAYER
"Blessed is he who comes in God’s name!" I confess, though that I have a hard time believing that Jerusalem will ever become a city of peace and prosperity. It's been such a hotspot of turmoil all my life. I grieve over the loss of life and the dehumanizing behavior that plays out in that place. Come, Lord Jesus, come and turn things around. Make that which is the symbol of horror into a center of your kingdom and your kingdom-way of doing life. And start with me. I'm struggling to see how this will happen but I'm going to join the crowd in chanting "Blessed is he who comes in God’s name!" Amen!

THE LORD’S PRAYER (ABP)
Our Father in Heaven,
we hold your name in the highest regard.
Please come and establish your reign here on earth
so that everything that happens here will align
with what is happening in heaven.
Give us enough food for today.
Forgive us our wrongdoing,
and we’ll forgive those who have wronged us.
Shield us from the trials and temptations that come our way.
Lastly, we pray that you will protect us from all forms of evil.
Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
