PSALM 119:45 (ABP)
I'll be free to go anywhere -- for I've absorbed your instruction into my life.
ROMANS 8:37 (CEV)
In everything we have won more than a victory because of Christ who loves us.
SUMMARY SENTENCE
Because of what Christ has done we can enjoy true freedom in our lives.
PRAYER
God, because you are generous we have freedom. You defeated the forces of slavery at the cross and in your resurrection you've opened the prison doors. Even when we face difficulties we are free! Yet, my feelings don't always match up with reality. At times I feel overwhelmed by what's happening in the world and in my life. Restore my confidence -- please! I'm going to allow your word to guide me to go where I've not yet gone. Amen.
THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name, your Kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

FREEDOM
EXODUS 20:2 (MSG)
I am GOD, your God,
who brought you out of the land of Egypt,
out of a life of slavery.
2 CORINTHIANS 3:17 (CEB)
The Lord is the Spirit, and where the Lord’s Spirit is, there is freedom.
SUMMARY SENTENCE
Experience the freedom that comes from God.
PRAYER
Savior God, your rescuing presence has been a constant since day one. Yet, we are experts at getting ourselves back into trouble on a regular basis. Thank you for intervening in the world -- especially for sending your Son to save us and restore our relationship. I pray that you would continue to chisel away at my self-imposed slavery so that I can experience your freedom. I'm going to let your Holy Spirit apply your freedom to my life each day. Amen.

TRUST
JEREMIAH 14:22 (ABP)
You, O GOD, are the one whom we trust for the future.
HEBREWS 4:16 (ABP)
Without wavering let's stay close to God's throne -- the place from which his favor emanates. That way we'll have quick access to his mercy and grace when we need it to deal with what life is throwing at us.
SUMMARY SENTENCE
Stay close to God and trust him to get you to where you need to be.

SUMMARY SENTENCE
Stay close to God and trust him to get you to where you need to be.
PRAYER
God, you alone are the one that I can completely trust. You have proven that over and over. Yet, I continue to drift away from where I need to be. I'm so easily distracted that looking to you for help isn't always my first thought. Then I get worried about how things are going to turn out. Remind me of your presence and I will more quickly trust you for the future. Amen.

GOD AT WORK
The 11th Sunday after Pentecost
GENESIS 24:56 (MSG)
He said, “Oh, don’t make me wait! God has worked everything out so well..."
ACTS 8:36 (MSG)
As they continued down the road, they came to a stream of water. The eunuch said, “Here’s water. Why can’t I be baptized?”
SUMMARY SENTENCE
God is involved in the details of our lives working out his plans through us.
PRAYER
Any abilities or talents, any opportunities or successes, are all gifts from you, dear Lord. Thank you for guiding me along life's journey. Forgive my hesitance to share openly how you have worked in my life. Help me to recognize and seize opportunities to share with others your faithfulness, goodness, and love -- and mostly your power to save! Amen. (Daily Texts, Ground Up Grace edition)

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.
The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
