PSALM 103:19 (CEB)
The LORD has established his throne in heaven,
and his kingdom rules over all.
REVELATION 19:6-7 (NCV)
Hallelujah!
Our Lord God, the Almighty, rules.
Let us rejoice and be happy
and give God glory...
SUMMARY SENTENCE
Change the way that you look at everything because God rules.
PRAYER
Hallelujah! You are the God worthy of all praise. Thank you for taking charge. I confess that I am easily distracted by lesser authorities who want to assume more power than is rightfully theirs. Help me, O Christ, to honor you alone. I pledge my allegiance to you. Amen.

COMING
Ascension Day
ZEPHANIAH 3:19 (CEB)
I will deliver the lame;
I will gather the outcast.
I will change their shame into praise and fame throughout the earth.
ACTS 1:6-8 (CEB)
Those who had gathered together asked Jesus, “Lord, are you going to restore the kingdom to Israel now?”
Jesus replied, “It isn’t for you to know the times or seasons that the Father has set by his own authority. Rather, you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
SUMMARY SENTENCE
There is more to come.
PRAYER
God of the future, I am filled with gratitude when I see ways that your kingdom is being restored. Other times I get impatient for your promises to be fulfilled. But my timing is not your timing. Fill me with your Holy Spirit. Infuse me with the faith to be your witness, proclaiming your kingdom come. Amen. (Daily Texts, Ground Up Grace edition)

TRUSTING RELATIONSHIP
PSALM 91:1-2 (CEB)
Living in the Most High’s shelter,
camping in the Almighty’s shade,
I say to the Lord, “You are my refuge, my stronghold!
You are my God—the one I trust!”
1 JOHN 5:14 (CEB)
This is the confidence that we have in our relationship with God: If we ask for anything in agreement with his will, he listens to us.
SUMMARY SENTENCE
We can have a strong trusting relationship with God.
PRAYER
God, you are the one in whom I trust when trouble arises -- except when I don't. Sometimes I end up with a foggy brain and forget about the ways that you have taken care of me and your people throughout the ages. Help me to think clearly when I'm facing challenges so that my trust in you increases in proportion to the difficulties I face. I'm going to camp in the safety and coolness of your shade. Amen.

HONOR GOD
DEUTERONOMY 10:14 (CEB)
Clearly, the LORD owns the sky, the highest heavens, the earth, and everything in it.
REVELATION 14:7 (CEV)
The angel shouted, “Worship and honor God! The time has come for him to judge everyone. Kneel down before the one who created heaven and earth, the oceans, and every stream.”
SUMMARY SENTENCE
Give due honor to God, for everything belongs to him.
PRAYER
Glorious God, you are already worthy of all honor and worship. Forgive me for my "what have you done for me today?" attitude. It is so easy to assert myself and slide into feeling like it's all about me. Help me to get the perspective right. I'm going to open my eyes to the wonder of your creation in order to better understand the creator -- and re-creator. Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2011 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.
The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
