Openness

I’m commanding you to give freely to those who are poor and needy in your land. Open your hands to them. ~ Deuteronomy 15:11 (NIRV)

Open your hearts wide too. ~ 2 Corinthians 6:13b (CEB)

Kind God, you have opened your heart and your hands to us. Yet, we confess that much of the time, we are closed people. We don't fully get it -- the openness. We close up because we want to protect ourselves and what we have. Apparently we don't trust you to be even more open with us. But you want to open us to what you have in mind. And there is something about that which is truly desirable. So, if necessary, please pry us open. Amen.
