Harvest

Be glad; rejoice forever in my creation!.. ~ Isaiah 65:18a (NLT)

Jesus said, “My food is to do what the one who sent me wants me to do. My food is to finish the work that he gave me to do. When you plant, you always say, ‘Four more months to wait before we gather the grain.’ But I tell you, open your eyes, and look at the fields. They are ready for harvesting now. ~ John 4:34-35 (ERV)

Creator God, you have planted a crop and now it is ready for harvest. I confess, though, that I'm too busy tending to my own business to join in your harvest. That is a shame and I am trying to repent of that. Give me the eyes to see the harvest around me so that I can rejoice with you. I expect to see ripe fruit today. That's exciting! Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
