The Second Day of Christmas
All you people who are thirsty, come!
Here is water for you to drink. ~ Isaiah 55:1 (ERV)
The one who was sitting on the throne said... “I will give free water from the spring of the water of life to anyone who is thirsty." ~ Revelation 21:5a,6b (ERV)
God, we've been eating and drinking so much recently that it is hard to think about thirst. But I suppose that at least in these passages your word is talking about more than ordinary H2O water. Yes, it includes that, but you also want to satisfy the thirst that is in our souls -- our very being. That is wonderful! And even though I don't drink as deeply from your grace as I should, I want to thank you for sending Jesus into the world to lead us to your living water. Help me to be aware today of all the ways that you are satisfying my thirst. Amen.
