2015

The Eighth Day of Christmas
The First Day of 2015

The Lord has helped us and taken care of us... We’ve had everything we needed, and the Lord has blessed us and made us successful in whatever we have done. ~ Deuteronomy 2:7 (CEV)

And always be thankful. ~ Colossians 3:15 (NLT)

Lord, what a perfect way to begin a new year -- by being thankful for the last year -- and all the years before. That puts things in perspective for me. You really have taken good care of us. We have enough -- not too little -- not too much. So, if you have provided in the past, certainly you will continue to extend your care into the future. That is the way you are. I confess that I sometimes lose sight of this fact. I get caught up in the moment and veer into the anxious lane. I repent of my wandering eyes and related anxiety.

Well, with your help, that's not going to happen this year. I resolve to trust you for all that is coming in 2015. Whether good things or bad things happen, I know that you are there to carry me through. And for that I am very thankful. Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
