Freedom

Get me out of this prison so I can give thanks to your name. ~ Psalm 142:7a (CEB)

Where the Lord’s Spirit is, there is freedom. ~ 2 Corinthians 3:17b (CEB)

Lord Jesus, it's funny that we are so passionate about freedom. And at the same time we are so unable to achieve it. We totally depend on you to free us from that which traps us. So, in a sense we can't ever really be free. We are never free to make it on our own. But we trust you to give us the kind of freedom that really matters. And in spite of our failures, you continue to set us free. Lord, today, I'm going to make a list in my mind of the things from which I need to be freed. And then I'm going to give that list to you and forget about it -- except to give thanks to your name. Amen.

Challenging Words
Make it -- idiom for success. If you make it to the top of the mountain you have successfully climbed the mountain. If you make it in business, then you have done well in your work and you have been rewarded. According to the Bible no one can make it in life by themselves. We are not capable of producing enough good to please God or fix the world's problems. We need to depend on Christ because he is the one who makes it on behalf of all of us.
