Expert restoration

Bring us back to you, and we will come back. You are the Lord our God. ~ Jeremiah 31:18b (NIRV)

Jesus, if we've learned anything through all the difficulties of life it is this -- we can't fix things on our own. We cannot repair the damage we have done. We need you. You are the expert at restoring lives. Please remember me and my situation. Please pull me closer to you. I need to be near you -- even when I'm tugging the other direction. Erase the rebellion, the doubt, the shame, the guilt, and the pain so that people will clearly hear me when I acknowledge you as the king. Amen.

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
