In Christ

My eyes will watch over them. I will be good to them. And I will bring them back to this land. I will build them up. I will not tear them down. I will plant them. I will not pull them up by the roots. ~ Jeremiah 24:6 (NIRV)

So now anyone who is in Christ Jesus is not judged guilty. ~ Romans 8:1 (ERV)

Lord, my life and existence are wrapped up in Christ Jesus. When the judge looks at me he sees Jesus. So, instead of punishment I am honored in the same way that Jesus is honored. Because you have included me in your clan I get to share in your innocence and honor. As I see it, that is an amazing miracle. But it is consistent with the way you do things. You have no desire to destroy. Instead you are building people up -- you are planting. And we get to enjoy the fruit from your garden. Keep me mindful of your grace so that I can extend your kindness and mercy to other people. Amen.

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
