We rely on what Christ Jesus has done for us. We put no confidence in human effort. ~ Philippians 3:3 (NLT)
Lord Jesus, I confess that I usually trust in the things I have, more than I trust in you. It does not make good sense, but I trust in my ability to persuade. I trust in my education. I trust in my ability to make money. I trust in my reputation. I trust in my family connections. I trust in my problem solving skills. These are my war horses and they are all good. But they are not powerful enough to be a real substitute for trusting in you. In comparison to your steady and consistent love, nothing has lasting results. You alone are worthy of my hope. I'm going to remind myself of that over and over again today. I might even leave my war horse in the barn. I think you'd like that. Amen.
