Your needs

Hezekiah received the letters from the messengers and read them. Then he went up to the Lord’s Temple and laid the letters out in front of the Lord. ~ 2 Kings 19:14 (ERV)

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. ~ Philippians 4:6 (NLT)

Lord God, you are more generous than we realize. Thank you for all that you do for me -- especially for that of which I am unaware. I confess that I'd rather worry than pray. That does not make sense -- even to me. But that is what I often do. I want to change that, though. So, I am now telling you everything that is on my mind -- all that I need. I especially need reassurance because there are terrorists, storms, diseases, family problems, work issues, and term papers I don't understand. I am bringing it all to you. I am asking you to seriously consider my situation. I am serious about taking you at your word. Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
