Christ acts
Compassion and deep forgiveness belong to my Lord, our God. ~ Daniel 9:9a (CEB)
Christ’s one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new life for everyone. ~ Romans 5:18b (NLT)
Christ Jesus, because of the compassion of God, your righteous sacrifice on the cross extended righteousness and forgiveness to everyone. I accept that gift and will let your righteousness, forgiveness, and compassion reprogram my life. And I know that it will happen because you have made me your friend. Thank you. Amen.
Challenging Words
- righteousness -- The state of being in a right and healthy relationship with God. By the action of Christ Jesus at the cross we have been given righteousness. When we act accordingly we are said to be righteous.
- reprogram -- Rewriting, revising, or changing the system which defines how we think and behave. This was originally computer terminology but it is also now applied to how people function.
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
