Fully Satisfied
The Lord responded to the people:
See, I am sending you
the corn, new wine, and fresh oil,
and you will be fully satisfied by it;
and I will no longer make you
a disgrace among the nations. ~ Joel 2:19 (CEB)
Jesus took the five loaves and the two fish and, looking to heaven, he thanked God for the food. Jesus divided the bread and gave it to his followers, who gave it to the people. All the people ate and were satisfied. Then the followers filled twelve baskets with the leftover pieces of food. ~ Matthew 14:19-20 (NCV)
Generous God, our needs are satisfied because you are providing for us. You have provided everything I need right now. And even though my natural disposition is to never be satisfied, I reject that idea. For I am fully satisfied. And there are left overs which you want me to share. Give me wisdom so that I know how to do that well. I desire to see others satisfied, too. Thank you for your generosity. Amen.

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
