Trust
I am the Lord! There is nothing too difficult for me. ~ Genesis 18:14 (CEV)
“Don’t be afraid; just keep trusting.” ~ Mark 5:36 (CEB)
Dear Lord, it is easy for me to believe that my problems and challenges are extraordinary. After all, I reason, I am an extraordinary person. It makes sense that I would have to face something that is difficult even for you. Forgive me for my extraordinary lack of faith -- for being so self-focused that my first impulse is fear rather than trust. But when I am thinking, I know that I can trust you and that nothing is too hard for you to do. I actually enjoy life a lot more when I am trusting you to make things happen. Amen.
Challenging Words
- extraordinary -- unusual, not like ordinary
- impulse -- sudden urge or desire, action that one takes before thinking through the situation
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
