Steady

Keep my steps steady by your word; don’t let any sin rule me. ~ Psalm 119:133 (CEB)

Brothers and sisters, don’t be like children in the way you think. Well, be babies when it comes to evil, but be adults in your thinking. ~ 1 Corinthians 14:20 (CEB)
Lord, you call us to live steady and mature lives. Part of that involves having nothing to do with things which are sinful. I wish I could say "I am that mature." But I expect that, by your grace, someday I will be. Keep me moving that direction -- steady on my feet. Chase away anything that might get caught up under my feet and trip me. Thank you for your word, the walking stick that keeps me standing. Amen.

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
