Time to look to the Lord
I will bless the Lord at all times;
his praise will always be in my mouth. ~ Psalm 34:1 (CEB)
Are you hurting? Pray. Do you feel great? Sing. ~ James 5:13 (MSG)
Lord, there is one thing that we can always do -- and should always do -- turn to you. There is no best time. There is not a better time. There is no bad time. It is always time to look to you. That's hard to do because when things are going well, I am distracted by the moment. And when things are going badly, I am distracted by the problems. Help me to see the value of turning to you in all circumstances. I will bless you Lord -- at all times. Amen.
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
